Margaret Morris began her professional career as an instrumental music teacher in public schools in 1965. Always fascinated by the arts, she began painting in the 70s after taking a class at a local art store. She took additional classes from several local art teachers, including James Warwick Jones, and attended various workshops, including one by the portrait artist, John Howard Sanden. In the late 80s, she put the brushes away and returned to public education as a classroom music teacher. In 2006, she retired from teaching and, in 2008, she returned to painting. Her first love is portrature, both people and animals.
